The Great Yorkshire Show is the premier agricultural show in the UK, attracting over 130,000 visitors every year.
The animals are without doubt the biggest stars of the show. There are countless livestock shows and competitions in the main ring as over 12,000 cattle, sheep, pigs, bulls, rabbit and poultry of all shapes and sizes battle it out to be named best-in-class.
A big attraction of the show is always the equestrian events as the world’s elite compete in world class show jumping and equine classes.
Heading the Main Ring programme each day is the Shetland Pony Grand National competition, which sees youngsters race head to head on their speedy mini mounts.
Elsewhere across the showground, fashion lovers can catch a glimpse of the latest trends at the catwalk shows, whilst foodies can enjoy the cheese Show, cookery demonstrations from a stellar line-up of Michelin star chefs and try local produce.
The event's gardening area is recognised as a leading horticultural show in its own right. You can talk to the experts on how to improve your garden and buy your favourite plants and flowers from some of the UK’s best growers.
Enjoy live demonstrations of country skills, including sheep shearing, milking and dry stone walling, and browse over 1,200 stands selling everything from gifts, crafts, clothing, food and drink.
