Departures: April - September
One of the highlights on Jersey's calendar, get ready to see the enchanting Battle of Flowers festival on this lovely break. We also enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the preparations, where we can see up close the painstaking detail that goes into every float, as well as a tour of Jersey's glorious coastline.
Departures: 06 August 2004
St Ouen's Bay, Jersey
Jersey's coastline is known for its breathtakingly scenic beaches and unspoilt beauty spots, with St Ouen's Bay being no exception. This treasure boasts a fine sandy beach, stretching for miles along the island's west coast, making it perfect for a revitalising walk. Despite its quiet, peaceful nature, the bay offers plenty of satisfying delights, with beach cafés, ice-cream kiosks and quaint independent restaurants serving wonderfully fresh foods, with something for all tastes.
La Coupée, Sark
With no street lights polluting the night skies and no vehicles allowed (excluding tractors) the smallest Channel Island, Sark, remains beautifully unspoilt and breathtakingly picturesque. Sark and Little Sark are connected by a picturesque isthmus called La Coupée, which offers lovely views of the azure coves, rocky cliffs and pristine beaches below. As it's gradually being eroded by the sea, we recommend walking this path before it's too late!
Jersey War Tunnels, Jersey
Gain fascinating insight into Jersey's past and learn about the island's fate during the Second World War on a visit to the haunting war tunnels. Built by thousands of slave labourers from across Europe, this vast underground network, running deep into the Jersey hillside, was designed to shelter the occupying German infantry from Allied air raids. Discover an extraordinary exhibition detailing daily life under occupation rule, the cruelty of the Nazi regime, the resistance, and Jersey's eventual liberation.
Little Chapel, Guernsey
Undergoing three reconstructions to satisfy Brother Déodat and his fellow brothers' discerning idea of what was acceptable, The Little Chapel stands today as one of the world's smallest chapels, nestled in the stunning parish of St Andrew. With its winding staircase, stained glass windows and intricately decorated with mother-of-pearl shells and colourful, broken pieces of China, this work of art is said to create a wonderful sense of awe and calm upon entering.
Battle of Flowers, Jersey
During summer's balmy days, Jersey becomes a haven of vibrant colour and sound as it stages its spectacular floral extravaganza, the Battle of Flowers. One of the highlights of the island's calendar, the exhibition of flower-festooned floats, musicians, dancers and street entertainers creates a tremendous carnival atmosphere, adored by locals and visitors alike.
